Avoid claiming on young persons' car insurance - get a free tyre check
28th April 2010
Drivers in their teens and twenties could avoid having to claim on their young drivers' car insurance if they take up Protyre's offer of a free tyre safety check.
It is not just this group that can benefit from the company's five-point check, as all drivers are being invited to come and have their vehicle's checked over.
Motorists do not have to book an appointment, they can just turn up at any one of the company's 49 UK locations and experts will assess their tyres for the correct tread depth and pressure as well as their general condition and whether they display and uneven wear.
By law, tyre tread has to be at least 1.6 mm deep, however, Protyre recommends they should have at least 2.5 to 3 mm of tread to ensure safety on the roads.
April is Bike Tyre Safety month and Tyresafe has taken the opportunity to advise motorbike riders to get their tyres checked regularly, stating that doing so can prevent avoidable accidents form occurring.
