Car buyers 'more comfortable with paying online'
3rd February 2010
More than one-third of Autoquake's customers now buy their cars over the internet without taking a test drive or even seeing the vehicle first-hand, car insurance customers have learned.
On average, these customers pay £7,500 for a car that they have only seen on a computer screen, with 60 per cent of the online dealer's buyers reserving their car on the first day that they visit the site.
"It shows the confidence that consumers now have with buying goods online. Buying a car online now, for many, feels like a very natural process," commented Fredrik Skantze, founder of Autoquake.com.
The site expects more car insurance customers to place deposits without seeing their vehicles in 2010, as consumers become more comfortable with paying online for the second most expensive item they will buy, besides a new home.
Autoquake recently suggested a list of new year's resolutions for car insurance customers to make, including taking an advanced driving course and checking tyres regularly.
