Ford develops fuel and cash-saving technology

16th July 2010

Ford has developed a new technology that provides tailored advice on the best way of saving fuel, money-conscious car insurance customers may be interested to hear.

A small electronic data-logging device, fitted in the car for the duration of one week, records the owner's driving behaviour.

Ford technicians then download this information and use sophisticated software to recommend ways that the customer can improve fuel economy and cut their bills by up to 25 per cent, or around £470 a year for the average driver.

This development comes as a survey commissioned by Ford reveals that 93 per cent of drivers are concerned over rising fuel prices.

Andy Barratt, Ford customer service director, explained: "With fuel prices on the rise, it's timely that we're able to uniquely help Ford customers with a way to reduce their fuel bill by up to 25 per cent."

Earlier this week, Vauxhall launched its Corsa ecoFLEX, which is fitted with fuel-saving Start/Stop technology.
