Land Rover Discovery 4 scoops Scottish Car of the Year

16th November 2009

Car insurance customers in Scotland have learned that the Land Rover Discovery 4 has been named that 2009 Scottish Car of the Year at a ceremony in St Andrews.

Organised by the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers (ASMW), the ceremony also featured commendations for the BMW Z4, the all-new Volkswagen Polo and the Ford Focus RS.

Bill Caven, president of the ASMW, said that despite the pressures facing the motor industry this year, the standard of entries for the competition had "never been greater".

"The Land Rover Discovery has always been a huge winner north of the border especially as our driving demands are different from anywhere else in the UK and the latest model has evolved into one of the best vehicles on the road today," he commented.

Land Rover recently reported that its UK sales have risen for the third consecutive month, selling 2,855 units in October.
