New A-Class unveiled

18th July 2008

The new Mercedes Benz A-Class has gone on sale in the UK, with added safety standards, comfort and environmental protection.

The A-Class, which has already sold over 125,000 units in the UK since the first model was launched in 1997, has been redesigned with new safety developments - crash responsive lighting and adaptive brake lights - as well as new infotainment systems.

The new generation Mercedes is also very economical to run, with fuel consumption figures between 42.8 and 64.2 miles per gallon, and the eco stop-start function - which automatically switches off the engine during idling phases.

The new A-Class also has seven per cent lower carbon dioxide emissions than its predecessor and 13 per cent less nitrogen oxide emissions.

It was also announced this week that Gordon Brown's desire to have all UK car insurance customers driving electric or hybrid cars by 2020, could be undermined be a shortage of the models.ADNFCR-1784-ID-18691926-ADNFCR
