RAC urge drivers to revise knowledge of Highway Code

17th November 2008

National Anti-Bullying week is being used as a springboard to get drivers to brush up on their knowledge of the Highway Code.

The RAC Foundation has said that some motorists may not have looked at the Highway Code since they passed their test.

According to the RAC, over confidence in driving skills and the rules of the road can lead to "a series of actions and reactions that can end in disaster".

Having a good awareness of the Highway Code can help improve motorists’ driving and can help people to be more confident on the road, the RAC believes.

Issues can occur when drivers and other road users such as pedestrians and cyclists become uncertain of one another’s intentions which the RAC said could lead to increased stress.

Those who want to test their knowledge can take part in a Highway Code Quiz created by the RAC Foundation for National Anti-Bullying Week.

In addition to having a good knowledge of the Highway Code, it is important that drivers protect themselves with the appropriate car insurance cover.

Recent research by the RAC revealed that almost a third of motorists will have no roadside breakdown cover this winter.ADNFCR-1784-ID-18879799-ADNFCR
