Fiat's green technology wins another award

1st July 2009

Another accolade has been awarded to Fiat's clean, green in-car technology - this time for advertising.

The Cannes Lions Awards recognise creativity across all marketing channels and this year saw over 20,000 entries from 86 countries around the world.

Fiat's eco:Drive technology, which helps car insurance customers to drive down their emissions while saving money on fuel, won a Grand Prix award a Cannes - the highest recognition possible at the ceremony.

Elena Bernardelli, marketing director at Fiat Group, commented: "Even though eco:Drive is only for Fiat users, we wanted to spread its strong ecological messages as widely as possible.

"This great award is testimony to our success in achieving that."

eco:Drive records information about a vehicle's behaviour and how it has been driven, which can be used by drivers to improve efficiency by changing driving habits.

The technology was recently praised at the 2009 Fleet World Honours at London's RAC Club, where it took the Fleet Environmental Award after receiving a nomination by the Energy Saving Trust.
