Luxury commuter car developed by Aston Martin

29th June 2009

A brand new luxury commuter concept car has been developed by Aston Martin, which the manufacturer claims will offer an intelligent and distinctive solution for urban travel.

The environmentally-conscious Cygnet will offer Aston Martin trademark design in a commuter car package based on the acclaimed Toyota iQ with a Euro NCAP five-star safety system.

Chief executive of Aston Martin Dr Ulrich Bez said that although the project still requires a good deal of work, he is confident that it could become a reality soon.

"This concept - akin to an exclusive tender to a luxury yacht - will allow us to apply Aston Martin design language, craftsmanship and brand values to a completely new segment of the market," he added.

Earlier this year the manufacturer was presented with the prestigious Concorso d'Eleganza Design Award for Concept Cars and Prototypes for its One-77 design, which was showcased on the shores of Lake Como, Italy.
