New Polo GTI is 'faster and cleaner' than previous models

18th February 2010

Motorists with young drivers' car insurance will no doubt be impressed with the specification for the new Volkswagen Polo GTI.

The car manufacturer promises that its latest GTI will be the fastest, cleanest performing Polo yet, capable of accelerating from rest to 62mph in 6.9 seconds.

Volkswagen has introduced a supercharger which achieves 3,000 rpm, before being boosted by a turbocharger that raises the engine to 6,200 rpm.

The vehicle also manages this while emitting just 139g/km of CO2, boasting a fuel economy of 47mpg.

Young driver insurance customers will be able to take advantage of a smooth ride too, care of the car's new springs and dampers which offer a 15mm lower ride height for the driver than a conventional Polo.

Earlier this month, Volkswagen announced that its 11,111,111th Polo ever produced rolled off the assembly line in Pune, India, underlining the success of the model.
