Car Insurance
Car insurance important when travelling
Mon, 26 Sep 2005
Accidents abroad cost holidaymakers an estimated £361 million this summer, according to a survey by insurance company Churchill.
Travellers should ensure they opt for quality insurance packages, the company advised, including car insurance for those planning to travel by car.
Accidents, illness and airlines are some of the main holiday mishaps indicated by Churchill's figures, with lost possessions revealed as the number one setback according to the 58,000 customers surveyed.
Theft was also highlighted as one of the most common problems, with a third of travel insurance claims coming from items going missing while on holiday. For those travelling abroad in their cars, the danger of theft from vehicles is a serious one, as many will keep all their holiday goods in their car.
"We advise travellers to shop around for quality travel insurance before they take their holiday. Levels of cover and price vary hugely so its important that time is taken to find the right travel policy," said head of travel insurance at Churchill, Mike Ketteringham.
