Car park enthusiast selects from the heart

Wed, 21 Dec 2005

A man who has already published books on the nation's favourite roundabouts has now released the definitive list of the country's most-loved car parks.

Kevin Beresford, the head of the Car Park Appreciation Society, has created a shortlist of the top 35 parking sites around the UK.

Mr Beresford was invited to carry out the nationwide survey of Britain's top parking spots by a leading car insurance company. On top of naming his top ten, he also singled out a few of the worst.

Speaking about his car park of choice – the St James multi-storey in King's Lynn, Mr Beresford said: "It was love at first sight.

"It is spacious, well lit and adorned with beautiful red brickwork complemented by slinky silver vertical aluminum fins that create a rippling wave affect," he said.

To make his selections, Mr Beresford traveled around the country considering various aspects of car parks, including aesthetic appeal and levels of security. The results of the final list aim to raise parking facility standards in the UK.
