A number of unofficial car salesmen using a kerbside as a car sales lot are angering Reading residents.
Some residents of Wokingham Road, where up to 20 cars at a time are parked by opportunistic marketers looking for a quick sell, have complained about the inconvenice and threatening atmosphere brought by the sellers.
Madge Baker, who lives on the road, told the Reading Chronicle: "The cars bother everybody living here because there are just so many of them.
"The council should be doing something to stop these people selling cars on a residential roads."
Other residents said they were concerned by the numbers of people hanging around the vehicles, and stated that the road had become a target for vandalism.
Under the new Cleaner Neighbourhoods and Environment Act, it is an offence to sell two or more cars along the same road, meaning the council has the power to remove offending vehicles.
It is also an offence to drive without car insurance, which is available in a variety of different deals to suit individual models and circumstances.
