World Cup fans warned over car insurance cover
Mon, 22 May 2006
With the World Cup just weeks away, thousands of English football fans are expected to make the short journey across the channel to Germany to follow the progress of the national team, with many choosing to drive over.
However, drivers are being urged to ensure that they have adequate car insurance cover, as research shows that drivers are far more likely to have an accident when driving on unfamiliar roads.
It is also known that some of the most dangerous roads in Europe are in Germany, and the countries that lie between it and the UK, making the journey particularly hazardous for British drivers.
It is also useful to check whether your current car insurance policy includes breakdown cover, as breaking down whilst in a foreign country and on holiday can make the experience all the more irritating and inconvenient.
However, in order to avoid accidents in the first place, the best advice to motorists travelling anywhere abroad is to plan your journey as thoroughly as possible before setting off.
