Convicted Driver
Competitive rates to benefit convicted drivers
Wed, 26 Oct 2005
Professional drivers can now benefit from more competitive convicted driver insurance rates, it has been claimed.
As the number of speed cameras on Britain's roads increases, those who drive regularly for business purposes are more likely to be snapped breaking the speed limit, resulting in points being added to their licenses.
Insurance companies are now initiating a scheme aimed specifically at drivers who find themselves at risk of losing their licenses through speeding offences however, according to QuoteAVan.co.uk.
The number of miles driven by motorists per year will be factored into the equation by insurance companies when calculating a premium for convicted drivers with penalty points on their licenses.
A recent survey by motor insurance company, Churchill, found that around 12 per cent of motorists break the speed limit every time they drive, and that 24 per cent speed each time they drive on the motorway.
In addition, around 80 per cent of convicted speeders claim not to have changed their driving habits since receiving a fine, and half of those surveyed said that they only stop speeding when they see a speed camera.
