Convicted Driver
Convicted driver insurance will increase
Mon, 12 Jun 2006
An increase in the number of motorists driving under the influence of drugs could mean a rise in the amount of convicted driver insurance in the UK, new research has shown.
More than a quarter of young people in London know somebody who has driven after taking illegal substances according to recent research by Transport for London.
And further figures on the subject by the Transport Research Laboratory for the Government have shown the number of victims found with drugs in their system has increased six times in the last 20 years this equates to 18 per cent of drivers who died on the roads between 1996 and 2000 testing positive for drugs.
With increasing numbers of drug driving accidents on the nation's roads it would seem inevitable that an increase in convicted driver insurance will occur.
Despite paying higher premiums for the service it is possible for convicted drivers to obtain insurance in the event of an accident.
