Convicted Driver
Make-up driver fined
Thu, 09 Mar 2006
A woman has been fined for putting on her makeup while driving.
Police cameras caught 22-year-old Donna Marie Maddock driving her car at 32 mph through an accident blackspot while applying makeup.
Pictures show she was holding a compact in one hand while putting on eye makeup with the other.
Pwllheli Magistrates Court fined Ms Maddock £200 after she admitted careless driving and six points were put on her licence.
However, the part-time model won't be hitting the Welsh roads anytime soon as last week she received a 20-month ban for drink-driving.
Inspector Essi Ahari of North Wales Police said: "A car is a dangerous lump of metal in the wrong hands.
"You need to be in control at all times and Miss Maddock's actions beggar belief."
Her mother told the Telegraph: "Donna has learnt her lesson.
"She is the kind of woman who likes to look good and she was on the way to see friends."
When she returns to the road finding good value insurance may be difficult unless she turns to convicted driver insurance.
