Motorists choosing to hire a car in order to make the most of their summer holiday within the UK are being advised to check they ensure the package includes the best car insurance for their needs.
According to Alamo, which offers breakdown cover, third party insurance and damage liability waiver on all its rentals, drivers could choose to reduce the excess payable in the event of an accident with an extended liability waiver.
Holidaymakers choosing to brave the best of the British summer in a hire car should also consider including an additional driver on the hire policy to reduce the risk of a fatigue-related accident.
Other top tips issued by Alamo in the run-up to the holiday season include considering whether you prefer a manual or automatic vehicle and ensuring you choose the right size car for your needs.
The car hire firm also points out that only the credit-card holder can collect the car, and the correct documentation is required for proof of identity.
