If cars could talk
Wed, 14 Sep 2005
Rental cars have seen their fair share of unusual behaviour if a survey from Alamo Rent A Car is to be believed.
In a survey of its 170 branches the car rental company turned up a number of unusual items left behind in car rentals. These included a black leather whip, a false leg and a cat in the engine!
A confirmation that fleet insurance is a necessity for hire-car companies is the excuses used when cars were damaged.
One man in Newcastle told the company I just woke up one morning and it was there to explain why the car had caved in wings, doors and wheel arches whilst a customer in Bristol said I hit a cow crossing the road.
Alamos UK marketing director Kim Brown said: We always try to be understanding when cars are returned late and if the car is damaged we have a clear process to manage the claim. But some of the stories we hear make the mind boggle and we have to bear in mind that truth is often stranger than fiction if our rental cars could talk, Im sure theyd agree.
