Women's Car Insurance

Industry confused over what women want

Tue, 10 Jan 2006

Marketers, car experts and motorists questioned on what makes a vehicle appeal to female drivers failed to hit the nail on the head when it came to reading women's minds, it has been found.

According to Fara Warner - a contributing writer for Fast Company magazine – overt feminisation of products such as cars can turn women off.

"Some of the things a woman wants in a car are exactly what a man wants in a car," said Ms Warner.

Speed and interior gadgets were found to be amongst the most important factors considered by female drivers looking to purchase a new motor, although safety and mobility also featured highly.

Patrice Efferson from Shreveport, who took part in the study, said that her taste in vehicles was based on the velocity the machine can achieve.

"I would get a Mustang. I like the speed, the color, the style of it. And the fact that it was from years ago," Ms Efferson told the Shreveport Times.

Although women may prefer not to be put in a box when it comes to vehicle types, they may not be so scathing of women's car insurance, which can provide a cheaper option for female drivers looking to update their insurance policy.
