Women's Car Insurance

Women love their cars

Tue, 21 Feb 2006

New research has found that half of drivers talk to their cars regularly, congratulating their cars on a job well done, giving words of encouragement ahead of a long journey and even discussing problems with them.

A survey of 2,000 drivers by the British International Motor Show found that women are more personal with their motors than men, with half of UK women believing their car has a distinct personality compared to just a third of men.

One in five women also admitted to having a pet name for their beloved car but not their partners.

Kirsty Adams, organiser of the British International Motor Show said: "We know that Brits are passionate about their cars, and it's great to see that the bond is so deep."

Across the country people in the south-west seem to have the deepest friendship with their cars as they are more likely to chat with their motors and worry about their car's feelings.

Almost 70 per cent of people in the north-east believed their car had a personality and in East Anglia half of all cars have a pet name.

With women building up a special relationship with their cars there is also the incentive to take out specialist women's car insurance, so the relationship can be cheaper.
