RoSPA helps out young drivers

Thu, 16 Feb 2006

A new website has been launched by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

Funded by the Department of Transport, the site contains information about private practice, professional lessons, driving tests and motoring laws and is aimed at cutting the number of crashes among young drivers.

The RoSPA is hoping that the project will encourage less experienced drivers to get as much practice as possible while they are learning to drive, in order to make them safer drivers when they finally hit the road alone.

"The driving test is only a minimum standard," Kevin Clinton, head of road safety at the RoSPA, told ITV Motoring, adding that there is always room for improvement.

"The real danger comes after someone has passed their test. The more practice they have, the more competent they will be in difficult and dangerous situation."

Young drivers can benefit from taking out a young driver insurance policy.
