Young driver sets lap record

Thu, 16 Mar 2006

The world's fastest young driver has to be Formula One's Nico Rosberg.

The 20-year-old Williams driver made his F1 debut unforgettable by setting a fastest lap at the Bahrain circuit.

He also managed to come in seventh place, behind teammate Mark Webber, after recovering from an early mishap.

Rosberg said: "I really enjoyed myself today and the final result was a good outcome.

"Unfortunately I made a mistake at the first corner, expecting that Heidfeld might leave me more room and the incident put me right back.

"The final result - seventh place and the fastest lap of the race - is more than I could have hoped for in my first race. Today was a great start and I'm looking forward to the next race."

For any young driver wanting to emulate the sharp skills Rosberg showed off, making sure you have good young driver insurance cover is paramount, just in case the worst happens.
